Bits and Pieces
It is a good idea use luggage locks when travelling through international destinations – prevention is key!
Bring along a basic first aid kit: bandages, mosquito repellent, wide spectrum antibiotics, antiseptic and anti-diarrhoea pills
If part of your self-drive itinerary takes place on the main roads, please avoid driving after dark! Roads are not lit at all or scarcely lit and potholes are frequently found. Avoid the danger of colliding with roaming wildlife and cattle
Do not forget to bring along a small torch and spare batteries – regardless of your travel style it is a very handful item to have while on safari
If you wear spectacles, it is a good idea to carry a spare set with you in case your first pair breaks in the bush.
A certified copy of your passport could be quite handy if your original gets lost or damaged
Always have your nearest embassy contact details in hand. If your country of citizenship offers a “Register before you travel service”, we highly recommend to make use of it.
