This luxury
scheduled safari concentrates on game
viewing in Moremi, Savuti and Chobe and the
safari operator are
specialist birding experts. The safari is
taken in a customized 4WD open sided
vehicle, driver guide and assistants.
Accommodation is in fully serviced large
spacious Dome tents with stretchers and
bedding, a bedside table and light. Private
campsites are used where the crew will put
up shower and toilet tents.
Hearty brunches and 3 course dinners are
cooked over the fire by the crew and a
selection of drinks are included on the
safari.
This safari is fully serviced and requires
little to no client participation
Day 1 – 3 : Xakananxa , Moremi NP
Depart Maun with a scenic flight into the
Moremi NP, The next 3 nights are spent
camping in the Xakananxa area of Moremi.
This area border the Okavango Delta and
there are lots of floodplains and lagoons to
view the game and birdlife. Expect to see
large herds of Buffalo, Elephant, Lion,
Hippo, Letchwe, Waterbuck, Giraffe, Wild dog
– to name a few species! Birdlife is also
prolific – expect to see many raptors –
African Hawk- Eagle, Tawny eagle aswell as
Steppe eagle. Other birds common along this
route area the Botswana hornbills, Red-
billed, Southern yellow billed, African
Grey, Bradfield’s and the Southern Ground
hornbill. A large number of brood-parasites
may also be seen – Diederick cuckoo,
Levaillant’s cuckoo, Great spotted cuckoo,
Shaft tail and pin tailed Whydah, Greater
and lesser Honeyguide.

Day
4-6 : Khwai area, Moremi NP
We move to the Khwai river area in the
northern area of the Moremi Reserve
characterized by floodplains, mophane veld
and woodlands. This area is rich in game and
we hope to see the endangered Wild dog
aswell as home to herds of Zebra and wild
Letchwe antelope.
In the mophane woodlands Gabar goshawk,
little Sparrowhawk and Shikra are common
raptors. Mixed bird parties move through the
canopy and include Red-headed Weaver,
Stierlings Wren-warbler, scarlet – chested
Sunbird aswell as Neddicky and
Yellow-breasted Apalis. The verges of the
swamp form breeding grounds for
Rosy-throated Longclaw, Black Coucal and
Long legged Bustard. Overnight camping
Day 7-9: Savuti area, Chobe NP
Today we move north departing the Moremi
reserve and crossing the Magwikwe Sand- ride
that formed the shoreline of a massive
inland sea. The old lake bed is now the
Mababe depression. Due to the range of
habitat covered during this journey offers
exciting game viewing and is a birders
paradise with good sightings of Violet-eared
waxbill, village Indigobird and Paradise
Whydah to name but a few.
Savuti, unlike the vast majority of the
country is not flat. Large outcrops of
volcanic roack form hills
which
offer excellent chances of seeing leopard
and a small isolated family of klipspringer
antelope. The Savuti marshland area is famed
for its large Lion prides, good cheetah
sightings and herds of Elephant,
Overnight camping.
Day 10-12 : Chobe riverfront area.
The Chobe river area is rich in wildlife
where much of the wildlife come to drink in
the latter part of the day. This is one of
the best places to see Roan antelope and
breeding herds of elephant are around every
corner and the only place in southern Africa
to see the Puku antelope.
Birding is excellent with good sightings of
Malachite Kingfisher, large flocks of the
nomadic Red-winged Pratincole and the
woodland areas offer great sightings of
Racket-tailed Rollers and Miombo
Rock-thrush.
For these last 2 nights we stay at a bush
Lodge called Elephant Valley Lodge, close to
the Zambia/Zimbabwe border with
accommodation in large en suite tents on
private decks
Overnight Elephant Valley Lodge.
